Warner Robins, Georgia - The City of Warner Robins, in partnership with Engage Warner Robins, celebrated a historic milestone today with the demolition of a 17,823 square-foot structure at Commercial Circle, the largest demolition to date under Operation Reawaken and the Downtown Redevelopment Project.
A crowd gathered in Downtown Warner Robins to witness the event, which marked a turning point in the City’s efforts to eliminate blight and open the door for new growth and opportunity.
"This is more than a demolition, it’s reawakening,” said Mayor LaRhonda Patrick. “Today’s milestone shows our City’s commitment to building a stronger, safer and more vibrant Warner Robins. We are not just removing buildings that are not structurally sound, we are paving the way for a walkable, vibrant and thriving downtown we can all be proud of.”
The ceremony included remarks from Mayor Patrick and city officials who highlighted the importance of the project and the City’s long-term vision for revitalization. Following the remarks, media and community members captured live video coverage as the structure came down, symbolizing a fresh start in Commercial Circle.
The event also featured opportunities to view the newly installed sculpture created by students at Central Georgia Technical College, Houston and Peach County schools and installed by the City’s Public Works Department.
The Commercial Circle Revitalization Project, located on the north side of town, is a cornerstone of Operation Reawaken, Mayor Patrick’s initiative to strengthen neighborhoods, promote economic development, and create a safer, more prosperous Warner Robins.
