Warner Robins, Georgia - During its August 4 regular meeting, the Warner Robins City Council unanimously approved the resurfacing of 22 roads and updated striping on five others under the City’s annual road milling and resurfacing program. The work, totaling $2.48 million, will be performed by CW Mathews and is scheduled to begin in September.
The majority of the funding for this year’s program, just over $2 million, comes from a Georgia Department of Transportation grant secured by the City. The remaining cost will be covered through the City’s portion of local Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds.

Over the past three years, the City of Warner Robins has invested more than $2 million annually to resurface and restripe local roads. Rising material costs, however, have meant those dollars now cover fewer miles.
The cost of repaving a mile of road has increased more than 20% since last year and more than 43% since 2023. This surge is primarily due to higher asphalt and stone prices, driven by inflation, supply chain disruptions, and increased demand.
In 2025, the City will resurface 7.37 lane miles at an average cost of $324,933 per mile. For comparison, the average cost per mile was $226,206 in 2023 and $269,373 in 2024. For more information and event updates, visit www.wrga.gov.
