Houston County, GA – Houston County Emergency Management is proud to announce that “Houston Alerts” is now available to all residents and visitors, replacing our previous CodeRED alert system. Houston Alerts is a free service that allows individuals to receive notifications sent from local authorities to stay informed on potentially hazardous situations involving weather, traffic, and other emergencies.
Individuals who were previously signed up for CodeRED will NOT be automatically enrolled in Houston Alerts. We are urging every citizen in Houston County to sign up to receive alerts from the new system. The previous system will no longer be active beginning July 22, 2025. A large portion of the data in the previous system was outdated and notification selections were limited. Having all residents register for the new Houston Alerts ensures accuracy of the data as well as providing residents with an opportunity to select the method and types of alerts they wish to receive. Alert delivery methods for Houston Alerts include phone call, text, and email.
When registering users will be presented with several optional alerts categories you may select based on preference. These include utility outages, significant traffic disruptions, and multiple weather alert types. Regardless of additional selections, all registrants will be enrolled to receive emergent notifications automatically. These automatic alerts include severe weather (Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm, and Flash Flood) warnings, health and safety warnings, and other emergency notifications from your local public safety agencies.
To register, simply scan the QR code in the attached flyer or visit www.houstoncountyga.gov and click on the alerts sign-up tab at the top of the page.
