Warner Robins Receives Georgia Department of Community Affairs’ PlanFirst Designation

Warner Robins, Georgia - The City of Warner Robins is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious PlanFirst Designation by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA). This designation recognizes the city’s outstanding commitment to long-term community planning and development, signifying its leadership in fostering sustainable growth and maintaining a high quality of life for its residents. 

The PlanFirst program celebrates communities in Georgia that demonstrate excellence in planning, as well as a proven track record of implementing their local comprehensive plans. Warner Robins is being recognized for its forward-thinking strategies, proactive decision-making, and collaborative efforts in shaping the future of the community. 

City leaders and officials have worked diligently to align local development with strategic priorities that reflect both the needs of the community and the opportunities for economic, social, and environmental advancement. Warner Robins’ comprehensive plan focuses on economic development, infrastructure improvements, and the preservation of local cultural and natural resources. 

The PlanFirst designation highlights the city's accomplishments across multiple departments, including Community and Economic Development, Utility, Stormwater, Planning and Zoning, Transportation, the Warner Robins Police Department (WRPD), and the Convention and Visitors Bureau, all of which have played integral roles in the city’s continued growth and development. 

On January 27th, as part of Georgia Planning Day hosted by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Mayor Patrick visited the Capitol to officially receive the designation from Commissioner Christopher Nunn. This event underscored the city's dedication to planning excellence and its commitment to leveraging this designation to enhance Warner Robins’ future. 


Mayor Patrick expressed gratitude for the designation, stating, "This is an incredible honor for Warner Robins and a testament to the hard work and vision of our city leaders, staff, and community partners. The PlanFirst designation will help us continue to grow responsibly and meet the needs of our residents while preserving the unique character of Warner Robins." 


The PlanFirst designation provides communities with various benefits, including access to technical assistance, state resources, and incentives that support the implementation of long-term plans. Warner Robins will also be eligible for bonus points on applications for select state funding programs, further enhancing the city’s capacity to continue its development initiatives. 


The city looks forward to leveraging this recognition to foster ongoing progress in housing, transportation, and community services, and remains committed to promoting a balanced and vibrant future for all its residents.
