Warner Robins, Georgia - What happened yesterday at Warner Robins High School is something no family should have to experience, and no words can fully ease the emotional toll this type of situation can have on students, families, staff, and our entire community. Our hearts are with all who were impacted.
We have deep gratitude and appreciation for the first responders who showed courage in the face of danger. This situation demonstrated what is possible when our public safety agencies work together. The Warner Robins Police Department, Warner Robins Fire Department, Houston County Emergency Management Agency, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and FBI came together to support the Houston County Sheriff’s Office. Their coordination, courage, and professionalism helped protect students during an extremely challenging and rapidly evolving situation.
While the City of Warner Robins does not have authority over the Houston County School System or the policies and security decisions governing our schools, we stand ready to work shoulder to shoulder with the Houston County School District, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, and local leaders to find a way forward.
Warner Robins High School is part of our community, and our children are our community’s most precious responsibility.
Mayor LaRhonda W. Patrick:
“What happened yesterday does not define us. We have a responsibility to learn from what happened, and we must identify where we can do better. Moving forward we must have honest conversations about how we prioritize the safety of our children. The City of Warner Robins Government is ready and willing to engage with our school system and community partners on real solutions. Complacency is acceptance and this moment demands more than our thoughts and prayers; it requires shared commitment and open dialogue to ensure every child can learn in a safe environment. Our children deserve nothing less.”
Warner Robins Police Chief Wayne Fisher:
“Warner Robins and Houston County demonstrated what it means to be a unified public safety family. Resources can become stretched quickly during a critical incident, and the support provided by our sister agencies allowed officers to focus on securing the school, locating the offender, and providing lifesaving care. I am humbled by the courage of the men and women who respond and put themselves in harm’s way to protect others. I am equally grateful for every partner who stands beside the Warner Robins Police Department. We were Warner Robins/Houston County Strong.”
Warner Robins Fire Department Chief Albert Wright:
“Our firefighters and emergency personnel were honored to support our law enforcement partners and the Warner Robins High School community. Sometimes the most important things we do are behind the scenes. That may look like providing resources, securing roadways, protecting access points, and creating the space our law enforcement partners need to do their jobs. This response was a true example of teamwork, and I am incredibly proud of the men and women who answered the call.”
The City of Warner Robins will continue to stand with our schools, our first responders, our families, and most importantly our children.
This tragedy does not have to be how our story ends. We can learn. We can improve. We can work together. And we can do better.
Warner Robins and Houston County are strong because we stand together.
We are one community. We are one family. And we will continue to stand together for our children.
