The Warner Robins Fire Department is organized into four branches:

• Administration

• Fire Prevention

• Suppression

• Training

• The Administration Division - This division is responsible for Fire Department administration, support services, and planning. This division is located at

• The Fire Prevention Division - Focuses on education, plan reviews, fire code enforcement, and investigation of fire scenes. It is located next to Headquarters at

• The Suppression Division - Is the largest division in the Fire Department and is responsible for delivering all emergency response services. Six fire stations are strategically located throughout the city.

• The Training Division - Is responsible for new recruit training, making sure the department meets state firefighter and medical recertification requirements, health and safety, and overseeing the department's promotional and hiring processes. These offices are located at

Special Operations play a vital role within the Warner Robins Fire Department. Some of these roles include members involved with the Georgia Search and Rescue Task Force 4, the Warner Robins Fire Department Dive Team, the Warner Robins Fire Department Honor Guard, and a logistical cache. This elite group of men and women dedicate themselves to staying on the cutting edge of new technology concerning search and rescue, wild land firefighting, and concepts in dive rescue. In addition, the Warner Robins Fire Department has one of the premier honor guard squads in the state.

Before 1959, fires in the City of Warner Robins were handled by Robins Air Force Base firefighters. In 1959, Fire Chief Earnest Wood hired the original ten firefighters to form the Warner Robins Fire Department (WRFD).

Modern firefighters must increase their knowledge in a variety of disciplines and continuously hone their skills. The Suppression Division of the Warner Robins Fire Department now consists of 108 members out of 123 total fire department personnel. We have three shifts that work 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off. The shift commanders are responsible for seven stations, seven engines, two aerials, and two brush trucks. We currently have a Class 2 Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating.

The Warner Robins Fire Department Training Division was established in September 1977. The Training Division was responsible for new recruit training and making sure the department met all of its training requirements for the state. At this time the training officer was the rank of lieutenant. The position of lieutenant was later changed to captain, and eventually made into an assistant chief position.
