Application Process

Submission, Approval, & Review

The Community Development Office processes all applications for rezoning and annexation of property, as well as applications for special exceptions and variances to the zoning regulations. Applications are heard by the Planning and Zoning Board on a monthly basis. The board meets on the second Tuesday of each month; however, meetings dates may be changed at the discretion of the chairman.

Applications must be submitted for processing at least 45 days prior to the scheduled meeting date. This time frame allows for proper advertisement of the applications in the legal organ of the city or county, notification of adjacent property owners, and posting of the public notice signs. For more information, please contact Darin Curtis, in the Department of Community Development, at (478)302-5522 or dcurtis@wrga.gov

After the Planning and Zoning Commission hears the application, their recommendation will be forward to mayor and council for the final decision. For the date and time of the mayor and council meeting, please contact the City Clerk's Office at 478-302-5593.
