Front Desk Terminal Operator (Police)

$11.26 Hourly - $901.06 Bi-Weekly

Perform duties of above average difficulty in operating the computer aided dispatch data entry system and city/county files. Operate the State GCIC/NCIC terminal. Processing paperwork on arrested individuals and coordinate arrestee transportation, meals, and lodging. Address unprecedented problems and critical situations over the telephone and radio system.  Extensive public contact both by telephone and in person.  Contact with other city employees, various law enforcement agencies and courts.  Contact at times with unruly and verbally abusive prisoners and citizens.  Perform typing and filing, and assisting patrol officers as needed. Position requires working rotating shifts during a 40-hour workweek.  Perform other job related duties as assigned.  Work indoors in a hectic working environment.  Work performed while sitting, standing, and walking with some stooping and minor lifting (up to 10 lbs.).  Must not be easily intimidated when confronted by with unruly prisoners and citizens.  Must be able to work different shifts in the same week.  Two (2) years full time employment in a work environment dealing with the general public.  Possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written.  Ability to communicate in a courteous, professional manner.  Ability to learn the organization and function of the department.  Ability to work with minimal supervision.  Skill in the use of basic office equipment.  Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm.  Must obtain GCIC Terminal Operator certification within six (6) months of employment. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Minimum age to apply is 21.
